Conquer the Clutter Monster! Friday, March 19, 2010

They say procrastination is the thief of time. Add clutter into the mix, and suddenly you’re overwhelmed, overcome, and hemmed in by frustration as you struggle to accomplish your daily round. Are YOU claimed and chained by clutter? If you’ve ever wanted to shriek, "Where do I even get started?" you need to come to this presentation.

Clutter can be good and necessary stuff that’s just not organized. It can be stuff you don’t need or even want, but can’t find a way to get rid of. It can be other people’s stuff and disorganization. Whether it’s your house, your office, your garage—or your mind—that you need to clear of clutter, you’ll come away with tips and tricks—practical, creative, usable schemes, techniques, and routines to conquer your unique clutter chaos!

Bloom Where You’re Planted - Saturday, May 15, 2010

Sometimes we don’t get to choose where we dwell. But we can sure choose what we do when we get there! When our priorities become the constant wish to be somewhere else, or money, power, and possessions, or the need for status and recognition, we can lose the chance to appreciate what is right in front of us.

Do you ever long for a simpler life? Do you wish you had time to nourish and develop your inner spirit? You can choose how you accomplish your daily to-do list. Do you blast through, hurrying from one item to the next, doing 14 things at once? Or do you savour each moment for all it can offer? Make mindfulness part of everything you do, and create the opportunity to build happiness where you are, instead of wishing your life away.

The Gift of Friendship - Friday, August 20, 2010

We all remember being told "to have a friend, you need to be a friend"… but in the frantic pace of life today, many of us have lost sight of the importance of friendship. We’re so busy "doing" that we forget the charm and warmth and sheer pleasure of simply spending time with people because we like them. Everything we do, it seems, must have a purpose. Obligations, television, and tasks take up all our time, and we too often ignore or put off the social relationships that were the core of our ancestors’ lives.

Friendship truly is a gift—one that, when we give it, comes back tenfold. The smallest friendly gesture, like the ripples from a stone dropped into a still pool, will spread and grow and reflect back to you. Come and be reminded of how to be a friend, and start a ripple in your world.

Your Own Race—At Your Own Pace - Saturday, November 6, 2010

Life did not come with a guarantee. The only thing we have control over is this moment, right now. We can’t go back and change the past, and while we can make choices that affect our future, we don’t have absolute control over whether those things will happen or not. The stress in our lives resulting from this sense of lack of control, from the actions and expectations of others, from demands and disasters and even dreams, can be a killer.

W can learn to manage stress, to turn it into a positive force that helps us get to where we want to be. The key is recognizing it, and choosing to live a full life—at OUR pace. Learning what we have control over and can change is key. So is knowing what to let go. In the end, it is our own expectations, actions, and reactions that determine our level of stress, and the quality of our lives.
